Ciguena

This fiber is famous.  The strength and resilience of Ciguena is legendary.  This is what the original explorers of the Yucatan (John Lloyd Stephens and Frederick Catherwood, 1841) used for their hammocks to stand up to the rigorous conditions of travel on the penninsula before Nylon was invented.  Only the longest and most finely combed cotton is spun from 18 individual strands.  The result: a hard, shiny weave that is practically unbreakable.  This fiber is known to be stronger than nylon (only more comfortable and reliable).
